Why PTSD First
PTSD has seen only two FDA-approved treatments in over two decades. Minimal competitive density and comparatively efficient trial recruitment give GoodCap a faster, lower-risk route to its next pivotal readout and a foothold into the broader neuroinflammation platform.
The Origin
Co-founders Darryl Hudson, PhD and Irie Selkirk spent a decade working closely with military veterans and saw firsthand how poorly current treatments served them. Frontline SSRIs leave roughly two-thirds of PTSD patients without remission. This reflection led to the belief that a combination drug of triptamines and anti-inflammatory molecules would better treat PTSD’s underlying biology by getting to the root cause, and be more effective than a single serotonin-reuptake mechanism. That observation shaped the multi-mechanism approach GoodCap is developing today.
Clinical Path Forward
GoodCap has aligned a planned Phase 1a/1b program (safety and tolerability, initial efficacy signal, active-duty population) with U.S. military clinical research investigators, anchored at a leading medical and research institution.
